Network Installation Engineer

Location: Corsham, Wiltshire or Oakhanger, Hampshire

The role
As a Network Installation Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will play a pivotal role in the Skynet Programme, the next generation of military communication satellites.

Day-to-day, you’ll be proactively acting as part of the maintenance and support team in all aspects of Network Installation across the Skynet Programme.

  • Ensure that all Network Installations are compliant in supporting the overall capability.
  • Be a major contributor with upgrades, new works including the installation of cabling, racks, equipment, networks, and systems.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, whilst ensuring all associated documentation is updated and accurate.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Chippenham, Wiltshire or Oakhanger, Hampshire. This role requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a weekly to monthly basis; you will have access to a site vehicle for travel during work hours.

Essential experience of the Network Installation Engineer

  • Fully competent in understanding basic network design.
  • Proven experience in the installation and termination of fibre, Cat5E, Cat6, Radio Frequency, Data, and mains cabling.
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office software.
  • Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise.
  • Strong understanding of Health and safety practices in technical environments.

Qualifications for the Network Installation Engineer

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualified in Network Installation or Fibre Optics.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
