Pacific Life is investing in its global network and security to support its digital transformation journey. As such, we are searching for a Network Engineer to help transform our network and to protect our customers and brand. The Network Engineer will design, implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. This person will also collaborate with our corporate security team to design and build security controls to protect our environment. The successful candidate will have served in a similar role in a Fortune 500 environment and would have significant experience in supporting global networks.

Responsibilities

1. Implement products, platforms, software, hardware, or appliance-based solutions related to network and network security.
2. Interface with management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements.
3. Design and manage the rollout of various network infrastructures with necessary capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization.
4. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
5. Maintain network security across the global enterprise; analyze networks for security threats. Monitor organization's networks for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur.
6. Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualization reporting.
7. Develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of network infrastructure.
8. Participate in IT security audits. Respond to existing audits and ensure required controls are implemented as required.
9. Build strong relationships outside of IT to understand business needs. Communicate complex details in a way that people can understand. Advocate for the end user and stakeholder by becoming associated with the products, empathizing with and understanding user needs.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

1. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in IT, configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
2. Candidate must have advanced technical skills and experience with the following L2 and L3 protocols and technologies such as IPSec, DMVPN, BGP, OSPF, VPC, QoS, 802.1x. Be familiar with Cisco IOS-XE and NXOS.
3. Candidate must be familiar with various platforms - Aruba, F5, Riverbed, Cisco (Catalyst, ISR, ASR, Nexus). Cisco ACI is a plus; knowledge of Aruba ClearPass, SolarWinds, Juniper, and HPE routing/switching equipment is a plus.
4. Must have an understanding of open-source and other tools to assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
5. Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
6. One or more of the following certifications: Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP. Flexible schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends.
7. B.S/MS in Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent experience.

This role will be 2x per week in our London office (Tower Bridge) and will support data centers in Slough and Docklands. Therefore, close proximity to London and willingness to commute to London is a must.
