Job description

Position: Network Engineer – Distribution Networks (Permanent, Remote)

Location:Nottinghamshire, UK

We are working with a prominent client in the energy sector, seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with a strong background in electricity distribution networks, particularly within voltage ranges from 11kV to 132kV, to take on a leadership role in shaping the future of network operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development & Implementation: Lead the development and maintenance of technical processes and procedures related to asset adoptions and network operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance across the board.

  • Standards Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain asset management and inspection procedures that set the standard for best practices within the industry. Ensure that design and construction standards are coordinated, efficient, and aligned with the latest regulatory requirements.

  • Technical Authority: As the technical authority, you will ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to designing and constructing the network, mitigating risks and ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with technical regulations.

  • Documentation & Technical Specifications: Take responsibility for creating and maintaining key technical publications, including standards and specifications for high-voltage networks, ensuring all technical documentation is up-to-date and readily available.

  • Design Function Oversight: Lead the design function to ensure performance meets regulated guaranteed standards. Take ownership of the network’s technical design and performance.

  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with senior engineers to create, review, and refine network operating procedures, ensuring the day-to-day operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with all relevant regulations.

  • Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk reviews for technical projects and manage the actions arising to mitigate company risks, maintaining a proactive approach to safety and compliance.

  • Industry Representation: Represent the organisation at industry forums, bringing forward insights and contributing to the advancement of best practices within the network engineering sector.

Key Requirements:

  • A qualified engineer with demonstrable experience in designing and maintaining electricity distribution networks (specifically in the 11kV to 132kV range).

  • A strong background in network operations, with proven leadership capabilities in ensuring the safe and compliant design and operation of electrical networks.

  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements, with the ability to translate these into practical and effective solutions.

  • Experience in managing technical risk, ensuring that projects adhere to both technical specifications and safety protocols.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of network projects and operations.
