Network Architect

Job title: WAN Network Architect
Location: Basingstoke/Hybrid (3 - 4 days per week on site)
Salary: GBP65k plus 10% bonus and GBP6k car allowance

Candidates must be willing and eligible to go through SC security clearance for this role.

I am looking for Network Architects for a client of mine who are a leading IT Systems Integrators operating within the UK defence sector. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain security clearance and to work on projects of national importance. You will be part of an experienced established team working on delivery opportunities taking place within the secure Defence and Government sector.

Responsibilities:

1. Your role will involve providing technical leadership within a project.
2. Responsible for the network design and configuration documentation, including passing through any governance reviews.
3. As a Network Architect, you'll provide hands-on technical configuration/implementation support and ensure successful handover to service.

Required skills and experience:

1. Demonstrable design experience in proposing and utilizing technologies from global network vendors such as Cisco and Juniper, including production of summary architecture documents, high-level and low-level design documentation.
2. Strong technical networking knowledge with industry-recognized network certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIS-ENT.
3. WAN routing, which must include MPLS, BGP, ISIS. Ideally, the candidate has a good working knowledge of Juniper products and JUNOS operating system, in particular SRX and MX appliances. But a good knowledge of Cisco equivalent will be considered.
4. Understanding of encryption overlays such as IPSec, GRE and hardware encryption would be beneficial.
5. LAN switching. The candidate has a good working knowledge of all LAN Switching technologies. This must include extensive knowledge of the Juniper EX switch platform and JUNOS operating system. There must also be a basic level of understanding for the Cisco Switch platform and Cisco IOS.
