Temporary Neighbourhood Response Officer/Admin – Housing

Hybrid working

  3. This is a temporary role, initially 1-2 months. Please do not apply if you are seeking a permanent position.
  4. The role will involve travel across various estates, so the successful candidate must be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle.
  5. Basic DBS disclosure required for this role.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, ideally within a public sector organisation.
  2. Experience in customer service; you’ll enjoy working with people in the community.
  3. Experience of working to plans and targets, with the ability to exercise good judgement while being proactive and creative in finding solutions.
  4. One year experience in a housing office or housing environment (transferable skills).
  5. Experience of working with external partners.
  6. Able to work early evenings and occasional weekends if required.
  7. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g., G Suite).

The successful candidate will ensure that estates are places that residents want to live. Work in a rewarding environment supporting vulnerable customers and preventing anti-social behaviour. Working collaboratively with other teams, external agencies, and residents, you’ll ensure that neighbourhoods are clean and safe, identify improvements, carry out fire risk assessments, estate inspections, and investigate breaches of tenancy. You will develop and deliver neighbourhood plans and local offers as well as work with local resident groups to develop local community facilities, activities, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carrying out customer visits on behalf of central teams including gas visits, arrears visits, sign-ups, tenancy breaches, tenancy reviews, and mutual exchanges.
  2. Work collaboratively with other teams, external agencies, and residents to ensure that neighbourhoods are clean and safe, identify improvements, carry out fire risk assessments, estate inspections, and investigate breaches of tenancy.
  3. Develop and deliver neighbourhood plans and local offers, working with local resident groups to develop community facilities, activities, and events.
  4. Deliver a programme of regular estate inspections and prioritise fire safety risk assessment follow-up work.
  5. Develop effective working relationships across the group and with external agencies.
  6. Work with local residents’ groups to develop community facilities, activities, and events as part of a neighbourhood plan and local offers.
  7. Liaise with other departments on neighbourhood improvements and services.
  8. Visit customers in breach of their tenancy or lease agreement where tasked to do so. Assess whether they require ongoing tenancy sustainment.
  9. Conduct viewings and sign-ups or tenancy assignments, checking on property condition as required for mutual exchange, during the tenant's notice period, or planned visits.
  10. Attend court to represent the company and/or provide witness statements as required. Conduct evictions and attend stay hearings.
