Job description

The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have an opportunity to be part of this in the role of Neighbourhood Coordinator.

The post holder will lead and inspire a team of locality-based staff in geographic locations, coordinating an all-age service in community engagement, capacity building, community cohesion, diversionary and community safety activities along with local and national programmes such as Well Being, Early Intervention and Prevention, Community Led Support, Veteran support, and stronger families. The post holder will also take significant lead roles in supporting Ward Members in their community leadership roles.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Significant knowledge of anti-social behaviour/community safety legislation and substantial use of relevant tools and powers.
  2. Substantial experience of working with a range of partners taking a proactive problem-solving approach to achieve positive outcomes for communities and individuals.
  3. Extensive experience in developing strong and resilient communities using a range of innovative asset-based community development skills.
  4. Strong interpersonal, communication, engagement, negotiation skills, and solution-focused approach.
  5. Sound knowledge and understanding of national and local legislation, policy agendas, and programmes associated with the service priorities (e.g., Supporting Families, Crime and Policing Act, Community Led Support, and Wellbeing).
