Job description

NDT Operative (Radiographer) - Transferable Skills/Experience Required

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £34,000

Working Hours: 6am-2pm Mon-Thurs, 5am-1pm Fri; 2pm-10pm Mon-Thurs, 1pm-9pm Fri (rotating)

You need to be qualified to EN4179 / NAS410 Level 2 (castings experience preferable but not essential).

If you have experience working in radiography, DPI, or FPI, your skills may well be transferrable.

Responsibilities:

  • Routine control checks to validate the inspection process and verify equipment calibrations.
  • Keeping computerized inspection records and archiving paper records.
  • Evaluate the results and make accept/rejection decisions based on customer acceptance criteria.
  • Interpret specifications and assist in the production of NDT techniques for level III approval.
  • Assist in audits and ensure continued compliance with the company’s NDT accreditations (e.g., NADCAP and UKAS).
  • Non-destructive examination of castings by radiography using x-rays to reveal internal discontinuities.
  • Operating computerized radiography system utilizing Phosphor Imaging Plates.
  • Load and unload film cassettes and process films, checking radiographs against samples to ensure correct setup.
  • Carry out control checks, processor monitoring, and verify equipment calibrations.
  • Restock darkroom cupboards and replenish processing solutions.
  • View and interpret radiographs produced both in-house and externally by subcontractors and evaluate results in respect to customer acceptance.
