Job description

Astute's Nuclear Team is retained by HTSL Group, who provide high-quality radioactive isotopes, advanced shielding, NDT equipment, and expert calibration services within the nuclear sector. They are looking for a Senior NDT Service Engineer to install and maintain industrial-ray systems, digital radiography, and film processors around the UK.


The Senior NDT Service Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £50,000 per annum, car allowance, and an opportunity for growth and progression.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior Service Engineer will:

  1. Repair a wide range of Industrial X-Ray equipment, CR and DR equipment, x-ray safety systems, and film processors.
  2. Carry out routine maintenance in line with service contract requirements on X-ray equipment.
  3. Carry out equipment upgrades during routine maintenance or as instructed.
  4. Work with other members of the service team to resolve customer service-related problems.
  5. Take ownership of site/system issues to develop a plan to resolve with the aid of technical management.
  6. Escalate to their Team Leader or Service Delivery Manager, in a timely manner, any serious or potentially unresolved issues which may affect safety, compliance, and customer/supplier relationships.
  7. Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are always adhered to, reporting any potential hazards to the senior management team.
  8. Build customer relationships and identify additional sales opportunities.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience of installing, servicing, and commissioning complex electro-mechanical systems in the field.
  2. Qualified to HNC/HND (Level 4-5) in an electrical or electronic engineering subject or equivalent.
  3. Skilled in electrical, electronic, and electro-mech diagnostics and fault finding.
  4. Skilled in mechanical and wiring assembly.

Personal Skills

The Senior Service Engineer role would suit someone who has:

  1. A "Can Do" attitude with a willingness to both learn and share knowledge.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills both with teammates and customers, working comfortably within a small team and independently.
  3. Commercial awareness and business acumen.
  4. Good Microsoft Office application skills.
  5. Experience in using CRM systems is desirable.
  6. Structured approach with attention to detail.
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills with a problem-solving approach.

Salary and Benefits of the NDT Service Engineer Role

Salary ranges from £40,000 - £50,000 DOE, company car allowance, and growth and progression opportunities.
