Job description

Nature and Social Risk is hiring a Vice President to join the global team focusing on environmental and social risk topics with a particular focus on nature-related risks. This role will be London based and will work alongside, and in collaboration with, the global team.

As a Nature and Social Risk Vice President in the Environment and Social Risk team, you will undertake a variety of tasks including but not limited to due diligence on clients and transactions, setting the firm’s frameworks on E&S risk matters, supporting on relevant regulatory deliverables, extensively engaging with internal stakeholders across the firm on E&S risk topics, and supporting on relevant public disclosures related to E&S risk matters.

Job responsibilities
  • Undertake due diligence on clients and transactions with a particular focus on nature-related risk
  • Support on the development and implementation of strategies and policies related to E&S risk with a particular focus on nature-related risk
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure understanding and implementation of E&S frameworks with a particular focus on nature-related risk
  • Support on engagement with external stakeholders, including NGOs and clients, to address E&S and nature-related risk
  • Support on internal communications (verbal and written) related to E&S risk with a particular focus on nature-related risk including to senior management and relevant committees
  • Stay updated on emerging and evolving E&S risk issues and regulations with a particular focus on nature-related risk
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Experience in E&S risk topics with a particular focus on nature-related risk issues, ideally applied to banking and financial services
  • Experience in implementing E&S risk due diligence processes with a particular focus on nature-related risk
  • Bachelor’s in environmental, nature, biodiversity and ecosystems or similar related field.
  • Understanding of, and practical experience with, the nature-related international standards and frameworks such as:
    • IFC Performance Standards
    • Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures
    • Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
  • Excellent analytical skills and comfort working with complex and diverse information sources
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
  • Proficiency in English
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders including communities, civil society organizations, government agencies, and business partners
  • Strong understanding of the variety of nature-related issues associated with diverse industries
  • Experience in training and capacity building on E&S risk topics
  • Ability to translate complex E&S issues into practical business advice
  • Additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus
