Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on a Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and MCA Lead role in Barnet working in the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust safeguarding team.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner with experience of working with complex cases and who has a good understanding of the legal duties regarding Care Act, Human Rights, adults at risk, multi-agency working and making safeguarding personal.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the Associate Director of Safeguarding, the Head of Safeguarding and with the wider Safeguarding team, to deliver specialist safeguarding advice and support to CLCH staff in accordance with local and national policy, guidance, and emerging legislation.

The ability to work independently is essential and frequent travel across the organisational area may be required.

Job responsibilities

The Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults /MCA Lead (Named Professional) has a key role within Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) to ensure staff deliver safe and effective care that complies with the: Human Rights Act (1998), Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (MCA, 2005) (including Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards) and the Mental Capacity Amendment Act (2019). In addition, the post holder will align their work to the Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) principles and Think Family guidance.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification

  • Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration / Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
  • Educated to master's level or relevant experience working within community nursing or other health-related professional qualifications
  • Evidence of professional development
  • A commitment to undertake further training
  • Formal education in teaching or experience in developing and delivering training programmes

Experience

  • Experience and specialist knowledge of safeguarding services.
  • Extensive experience of working with adults who have complex needs.
  • Experience of working with partner agencies responsible for safeguarding vulnerable groups
  • Experience of working within complex adult safeguarding cases
  • Experience in audit and Root Cause Analysis investigations
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating safeguarding training
  • Experience of participating in policy development
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Experience of designing and undertaking audits
  • Experience of analysing and presenting data
  • Experience in acting autonomously as an expert in safeguarding
  • Experience of working in a safeguarding adults role
  • Experience of working in a community healthcare setting
  • Safeguarding supervision course and/or Train the Trainer courses.
  • Experience of presenting at meetings/training
  • Experience and knowledge of working within learning disabilities or mental health

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of legislation and guidance relating to adult protection
  • Evidence how Equality, Diversity and Inclusion underpins safeguarding practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of roles of partner agencies working within the safeguarding adults.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adult review (SAR) and the domestic homicide review process
  • Ability to work in partnership with others/teamwork.
  • Ability to deliver and lead effective supervision & training
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle and process sensitive information in line with GDPR
  • Confident in using a range of technology to carry out work duties
  • Excellent organisational and risk management skills
  • Practical experience of DHR/SAR processes.
  • Practical experience of delivering supervision.
  • Experience of report writing
  • Awareness of environmental sustainability
  • Skills relating to development of training programmes/strategy and policy

  • Understanding of applying quality improvement methodology to practice
