Job SummaryMid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the continuation of this post. The post is suitable for a cardiology trainee with an interest in imaging to acquire skills for scanning, supervising, and reporting cardiac CT and MR independently. There are also additional clinical service commitments.
This post is not a recognised UK training post. However, the post-holder will have a named supervisor and support with undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust. We can support applications to get the position approved as OOP if the doctor is already in a training programme.
The post-holder will undertake advanced cardiac imaging and clinical work in Cardiology in Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, with 6 imaging sessions and 2 clinical sessions per week. Lists include general cardiac MRI, stress perfusion MRI, and cardiac CT. This timetable will allow the successful candidate to attain level 2/3 accreditation in both cardiac CT and MRI. There will also be a requirement to participate in ongoing MRI research which is a requirement for level 3 accreditation.
Duties will be based in both Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury Hospital sites.
This post is compliant with working time regulations and the 2016 resident doctors contract, averaging 40 hours per week.
This post is due to commence from the 6th August 2025.
Main Duties of the JobThe main duties of the post will include:
- Supervision and first-reporting of cardiac MRI and CT (with appropriate consultant supervision)
- Out-patient activities/clinics
- Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
- Involvement in relevant administration duties
- Teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
- Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities

Appointment as a MYDoc Trust Registrar is intended to be for a maximum of a 12-month period as part of an individual development programme for the Doctor. This post is due to commence from the 6th August 2025.
Pay ScaleThese roles are equivalent to a doctor on specialty training programmes and will be paid on the equivalent pay scale. The salary will be £61,825 per annum. This is a full-time post.
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Pre-registration / foundation training and at least one year in a relevant specialty in an NHS Trust or with equivalent experience from overseas.
Desirable- Relevant experience from other specialties
- Experience of teaching clinical skills
- Clinical research and development
- BSE accreditation (or equivalent)
GMC RegistrationEssential- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
QualificationsEssential- Medical Degree from recognised medical school
- Higher qualification e.g. MFARM, FRCS, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent
- ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification
