The Medical Division at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust provides Acute care across the range of medical specialities in a large modern purpose-built hospital in Wakefield, which includes a large Acute Assessment Unit, Acute Elderly Assessment Unit, Coronary Care and Acute (Respiratory) Care Unit. We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Dewsbury & District Hospital.

The team provides care for approximately 250 inpatient beds spread across 2 sites and cares for the frailest and most vulnerable in society, as well as supporting other medical colleagues in caring for older patients. We have grown our team to be able to run a dedicated Elderly Care out of hours roster separate from general medicine.
Providing such varied roles also allows us the flexibility to offer bespoke careers; if you have a specialist interest that you wish to develop, we can work with you to make that happen.
