Job description

This school in Plymouth is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher to inspire and develop students' musical abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging music lessons, encouraging creativity, and fostering a love for music across all levels. This role begins September 2025.

Duties as a Music Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality music lessons in line with the curriculum.
  • Teach a variety of musical skills, including instrument playing, singing, composition, and music theory.
  • Prepare students for performances, exams, and competitions.
  • Organise and support musical events, concerts, and extracurricular activities.
  • Encourage students’ creativity and confidence in musical expression.
  • Maintain and manage musical instruments and resources.

Ideal Music Teacher:

  • A degree in Music, Education, or a related field.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching music at primary or secondary level.
  • Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for music and student development.
