Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Job Title: Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Salary: £46,000 per annum (Negotiable based on experience)
Shift Pattern: Continental Shifts (4 on 4 off, Days and Nights, 12 hour shifts)

Overview:
My client is seeking a highly skilled Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join our team in a leading food manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of our production equipment, playing a key part in maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance across production equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical faults.
  3. Conduct routine checks, inspections, and repairs to identify potential issues before they cause downtime.
  4. Support production teams in ensuring smooth operation and efficiency of manufacturing processes.
  5. Implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance as required.
  6. Work on electrical circuits, control panels, and instrumentation, while also addressing mechanical issues.
  7. Provide technical support to operations and assist in process improvement initiatives.
  8. Maintain and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  9. Be part of a team that supports the continuous improvement of plant performance and operational reliability.
Required Skills & Experience:
  1. Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer, ideally within a food manufacturing or similar fast-paced production environment.
  2. Strong electrical background with experience in fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs.
  3. Mechanical knowledge to support engineering work across various types of machinery.
  4. Knowledge of PLC systems, electrical control panels, and automation.
  5. Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under pressure.
  6. Experience working in a Continental shift pattern or willingness to work a rotating shift schedule.
  7. A proactive attitude, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  1. Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent).
  2. Experience working with food manufacturing machinery is highly desirable.
