Move Services Assistant (3 posts)
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people with a passion for providing the highest levels of customer service to join our team in delivery of highly professional, efficient and customer centric support services.
Successful candidates will join our Move Services Team and undertake manual handling tasks to support the delivery of seamless, customer-centric move services within and between university buildings. They‘ll have the ability to undertake physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transporting heavy items (training will be provided) and must hold a valid full group B driving licence to enable them to drive university vehicles.
The role will predominantly involve working standard daytime working hours but may be required to work weekends, evenings and / or nights on occasion to suit the needs of the University during busy periods. As a result, a 10% flexibility allowance will be paid.

Salary: £25,330.80 per annum (Grade 2)
Breakdown
Basic Pay (spine point 9) = £23,028
Shift Allowance (10% of £23,028) = £2,302.80

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
As part the university’s Move Services Team, undertake manual handling tasks to support the delivery of seamless, customer-centric move services within and between university buildings.

Duties And Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Assist with the safe and efficient movement of furniture, equipment, deliveries and post within and between university buildings, delivering a high level of customer service at all times.
- Handle enquiries from customers such as University staff, students and members of the public in a professional manner.
- Follow existing procedures to complete tasks, referring more complex queries to your line manager, making sure all relevant information is passed on accurately.
- Establish good working relationships with key contacts to help support and improve how you and the team deliver work.
- Undertake a variety of routine administrative duties to support the team and department, e.g. answering emails, updating information and filing (electronically).
- Gather and input information to update administrative systems accurately (training will be provided on relevant systems).
- Take an active role in the team, working towards meeting team objectives and supporting other team members, including contributing to the training of new team members.
Specific Duties
- Support the Move Services Team Leader with coordinating, prioritising and fulfilling move requests to meet operational needs.
- Ensure items are appropriately packed, handled, and transported to avoid damage.
- Communicate effectively and appropriately with internal and external customers.
- Assist in the setup and arrangement of furniture and equipment as per specified requirements.
- Undertake event preparation / arrangements e.g. set up rooms, set up equipment and reset after an event.
- Accept, sort and distribute post and deliveries.
- Undertake manual handling tasks as required e.g.:
- Seminar / teaching space / pool room set up / reset,
- Furniture, equipment, waste / recycling clearance,
- Receipt and distribution of deliveries.
- Provide support for offsite events (e.g. Graduation) as and when required.
- Maintain accurate records of moves, deliveries, and inventory.
- Follow all safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of move services by offering feedback and suggesting process enhancements.
General Duties
- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.

Essential Criteria
- Basic Numeracy and Literacy (for example NVQ 1/GCSE level D-G).
- A valid full group B driving licence.
- Experience of working in a move services / manual handling role and proven ability to safely move furniture, equipment, and deliveries.
- Ability to undertake physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transporting heavy items (Training will be provided).
- Basic knowledge of common office IT packages (e.g. email).
- Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a professional manner and to the highest standards, treating people with courtesy and respect at all times.
- Ability to clearly record information to pass on to others.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload within established time scales.
- Ability to identify problems using own initiative, determining which standard process and procedures can be used to solve them.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of working in a higher education environment.
- Ability to speak/understand Welsh or a willingness to learn.
Additional Information
- This is an on-campus role with frequent presence at move locations across campus.
