Job description

We are looking for a Motor Claims Handler to join our team in Bradford (BD4) on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role with expectations to work in the office at least two days a week.

Joining our Insurance Department as a Motor Claims Handler, you will oversee a portfolio of claims resulting from road traffic accidents. You'll use a case management system and cutting-edge technology to streamline your daily tasks. Continuous support from a Team Manager and Senior Manager will be available to help you grow and advance in your legal career.

What will you be doing?

  1. Handle a portfolio of road traffic accident cases, including personal injury claims, across Small, Fast, Intermediate, and Multi Track from inception to settlement.
  2. Conduct thorough investigations into incident circumstances and claim valuations, including legal research, evidence collection, and prospect assessment.
  3. Prepare, negotiate, and review legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
  4. Efficiently manage cases to meet departmental targets and service level agreements (SLAs).
  5. Provide clear and accurate advice to clients on case progression and outcomes.
  6. Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
  7. Identify and manage legal risks, escalating issues to your Team Manager when necessary.
  8. Keep up to date with industry developments, legal updates, and best practices.
  9. Participate in business development activities, including client presentations, marketing, and networking opportunities.
  10. Attend meetings with key stakeholders and third parties.

We tend to look for people with:

Essential

  1. Proven experience in civil litigation and RTA (Road Traffic Accident) cases.
  2. Comprehensive understanding of CPR (Civil Procedure Rules), case law, and litigation processes.
  3. Exceptional attention to detail, prioritization, and accuracy.
  4. Strong negotiation and communication skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels.

Desirable

  1. Defendant experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  2. Familiarity with the OIC (Official Injury Claim) and MOJ (Ministry of Justice) Pre-Action Protocol, along with the Civil Procedure Rules for Low Value Personal Injury Claims, is beneficial.
  3. Self-motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively across multiple teams.
