Department of International Relations

Salary: No less than £101,902 per annum. The salary scale can be found on the LSE website.

The Department of International Relations is looking to appoint the next Montague Burton Chair in International Relations.

International Relations (IR) has been taught at LSE since 1924 when Philip Noel-Baker was appointed to a new, privately-endowed Chair of International Relations. The Department, which was set up three years later, was not only the first of its kind, but has remained a leading world centre for the development of the subject ever since.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct and publish outstanding quality research.
  2. Engage in high-quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department.
  3. Foster collegiality and participate in the School and wider Department activities.

Qualifications:

  1. A proven record of outstanding research, evidenced by existing publications of the highest quality in top-ranked journals and leading university presses.
  2. A clear, well-developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that will result in further world-leading publications.
  3. An outstanding reputation in International Relations or a closely related subject.
  4. A significant track record of excellence in teaching in one or more areas covered by the Department.
  5. A commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment.
  6. A track record in providing leadership in department and/or school administration.
  7. Experience of mentoring and developing colleagues to support them in their career development.
