Overview

Responsible for the receptionist and clerical function on the Patient Care unit and documentation of cardiac rhythms at a central monitoring station under supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Continuous Monitoring: Observe and interpret cardiac rhythms and other vital signs on telemetry monitors. Identify any deviations from the norm and respond promptly. Post monitor strips and 24 hour trends as directed daily. Accurate rhythm interpretation.
• Alarm Response: Immediately notify nursing staff or appropriate personnel of any critical changes in patient status.
• Documentation: Accurately document cardiac rhythms, events, and any interventions in the patient's medical record as per hospital policy.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that telemetry equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate department.
• Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and other technicians.
• Confidentiality: Protect patient privacy by adhering to HIPAA and other confidentiality policies.
• Professional Accountability: Independently seek out other job-related experiences to enhance knowledge base. Timely completion of assigned education and annual competencies. Actively engage in unit-based councils and performance improvement. Recognize unit needs and work to facilitate solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic understanding of cardiac rhythms and medical terminology.
• Proficiency in using telemetry and other monitoring equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have completed Medical Terminology course.

Credentials

• BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification.
