Job description

Job Title: Capacity Lead Engineer
Location: London
Salary: 52,000 + overtime + on call
Hours: Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm


Job Purpose
The Capacity Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimising the capacity planning, utilisation, and performance of building systems across a portfolio of properties. This includes leading the assessment of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to ensure reliability, compliance, and alignment with operational requirements and future growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the H&S of the sites and engineers.
  • On site HV and LV Authorised Person when qualified.
  • Proactively check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with the company, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements, especially regarding sub-contractors' adherence to RAMS.
  • Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirements of the contract. Administer subcontractor work approvals and ensure safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by site management.
  • Conduct annual appraisals of shift technicians once completed the Appraisal and Development training course.
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
  • Maintain the Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g., Maximo, Concept, etc., ensuring PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
  • Work closely with the Area Contract Manager to maintain service levels at a consistently high level.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong background in building services engineering, ideally electrically qualified (level 3 or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a technical or engineering leadership role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with BMS, CAFM, and energy monitoring systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in critical environments (e.g., data centres, healthcare, or high-security sites).
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency frameworks and building optimisation techniques.
