Ministry Pastor (Students)

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 9:00am, Tuesday 15 April 2025

Hours: Part-time, 22.50 hours per week (0.60 FTE)

Days: Sunday (half day) remaining hours can be worked flexibly Monday to Friday, as agreed

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £31,860 per annum, pro rata based on full-time hours of 37.5 per week. Monthly salary based on 22.50 hours is £1,593.00 before deductions.

Summary of role:

You will be responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the student ministry program for Trent Vineyard with a team of support staff and volunteers. The role involves creating a vibrant and engaging environment for students (primarily age 18 to 22 years) that fosters spiritual growth, community and outreach in keeping with the vision and values of Trent Vineyard. You will have a passion for student ministry, strong leadership skills, and a heart for mentoring and guiding students in their faith journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and vision
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for the student ministry that aligns with Trent Vineyard’s vision, values and beliefs.
  • Identify, recruit, train, deploy, monitor and nurture (IRTDMN) a team of support staff, volunteers and leaders to effectively engage with students to fulfil the vision for the ministry area.
Ministry development
  • Oversee weekly Student Small Groups, student gatherings including weekends away, Bible studies, retreats, and special events that promote spiritual growth and community.
  • Create resources and initiatives that encourage students to deepen their understanding of the Bible and their faith.
Discipleship
  • Build meaningful relationships with students, providing mentorship and guidance in their spiritual journeys.
  • Encourage and equip students to take on leadership roles within the ministry and the church.
Outreach and community engagement
  • Develop outreach programs that connect students with the local community and encourage service and mission opportunities.
  • Engage in student networks, including Fusion, UCCF and Cause To Live For.
Management and administration
  • Manage the student ministry budget and resources effectively with support from the Business and Finance Team and your line manager.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with your line manager and attend regular catchup meetings.
  • Prepare for, and actively participate in, an annual performance assessment (appraisal) with your line manager.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, you will undertake occasional and various responsibilities as the need arises (e.g. speaking engagements, event organisation, ad hoc projects) in accordance with the serving expectations that come with this senior role.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and events relevant to a member of the Leadership Team and wider Staff Team. For example, staff meetings, Leadership Team and Pastoral Group meetings and regular annual events in our church calendar, such as Thy Kingdom Come and Leaders Meetings.
Spiritual Growth
  • Lead by example in personal spiritual growth and encourage students to cultivate their relationship with God through prayer, worship and service.

Experience:
  • Managing a team, preferably within a church setting
  • Working as part of a team
  • Up to date understanding of adult safeguarding procedures and GDPR Requirements
  • Some working knowledge of budgets and budgetary control
  • Pioneering projects and initiatives involving substantial resources and large numbers of people
  • Galvanizing people around new projects and ideas
Qualifications:
  • Theology qualification (desired)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Applications, internet, databases
Other requirements:
  • Loyal to the Senior Pastor, Senior Leadership Team, Trent Vineyard and the Vineyard Churches movement
  • Committed to and demonstrate knowledge of the vision, values, beliefs and ethos of Trent Vineyard
  • Attend Trent Vineyard as an active member of church
  • Willing to submit a DBS Check
  • Able to work Sundays
  • Willing to work some evenings and weekends to facilitate ministry related events
  • Be a practicing Christian*

You report to: Senior Ministry Pastor

Reporting to you: Student Ministry Staff and volunteer leaders
