At British Gypsum, we are looking for a Mine Mechanical Engineer, to be based out of Brightling Mine, in Robertsbridge, East Sussex.
Brightling underground mine produces both gypsum and cement rock for use by British Gypsum plants and the general cement industry.
You will have experience of, and the ability to, plan and coordinate maintenance systems, maintenance planning and contractors so the maintenance team is set up to be efficient, sustainable, effective, and safe.
This role is based on-site 5 days a week.
What you will be doing:
- Have in place fortnightly to annual maintenance plans including shutdowns
- Carry out plant analysis, identifying and implementing improvements
- Review, develop and implement processes for maintenance planning and costings
- Have managerial responsibility for allocated staff including reviews and performance management
- Provide mechanical expertise where required to production, maintenance, and management
- Manage contractors and plant hire
What we’re looking for:
- 4-year mechanical engineering degree or equivalent
- Hands-on maintenance experience in a drill/blast mining environment is preferable
- Experience in managing mining/heavy industry projects
- Ability to follow stringent processes and systems in order to be productive and safe
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, where safety is the number one priority
