Merchandise Financial Planning, Assistant Manager

Job Description

Just imagine being part of the most loved brand worldwide!

We have an exciting opportunity to join our global E-Commerce & Retail Operations Team, in the newly created Merchandise Financial Planning function.

Please note that relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Merchandise Planning: Working alongside the MFP Manager to ensure the quality of the Merchandise Financial Plan for a group of product categories, initially across an up-to 24-month horizon (expanding as our processes mature). You will apply a product-first lens to planning which can be compared and contrasted against the bottom-up location plan.
  2. Target Setting: Support the process of annual target setting across sales, margin, inventory, location etc. Work alongside relevant teams in monitoring actual performance against critical metrics.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with partners across the business (Finance, Category Management, Channel Heads, Marketing etc.) to ensure that the Merchandise Financial Plan is reflective of all key inputs.
  4. Risks and Opportunities: Assist in helping track actual performance versus plan and highlight any gap-to-target risk in a timely manner. Be supportive in helping identify commercial activities that help mitigate any such risk.
  5. Scenario Based Planning: Model the impact of commercial activities such as mark-downs / promotions on inventory, CS top-line and margin. Be able to clearly present and articulate the various options to key partners within the business.
  6. Range Input: Support the development of assortment plans based on data driven insight. Be an important voice in giving input on longer range portfolio choices, aligned with LEGO Retail strategic ambitions (consumer audience, price point etc.).
  7. Process Alignment: Help support in ensuring best practice is applied globally, across the full end-to-end LEGO Retail planning process.
  8. Adhoc: As LEGO Retail is on a growth journey, there will be opportunities and expectations to lead regional and global projects across planning and operations. Current focus is on implementation of end-to-end retail planning capabilities (o9 platform) utilising statistical forecasting.
Play your part in our team succeeding

Merchandise Financial Planning is being formally introduced to LEGO Retail as part of a step change in our end-to-end retail planning capabilities. The Merchandise Financial Plan will provide a view of the top-line target across product category, channel, location and time; providing goals and critical metrics against which assortment plans and line level forecasts can be reconciled.

In this role, you will support the team, taking ownership of a group of product categories, with maintenance of a long-range plan that is reflective of the latest inputs from key stakeholders across the LEGO Retail business. You will be a key player in highlighting risks and opportunities to the plan, as well as using scenario based workflows to help model the trade-off of different activities on top-line, inventory and margin.

Do you have what it takes?
  1. Experience of financial planning within a retail environment, covering online and brick-and-mortar channels.
  2. Experience of crafting retail plans at various location levels, including Country and Store.
  3. Ideally, having used statistical forecasting for growing planning efficiency and accuracy.
  4. Demonstrating strong collaboration skills across various functions, cultures and management levels.
  5. Strong analytical approach, the ability to spot patterns and draw conclusions from large data sets.
  6. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Results driven with a can-do mentality that thrives in overcoming challenges!
