An excellent Specialist school in Oxford is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team starting as soon as possible.
This school helps children who have Autism as their main diagnosis cope and manage with their school, while also providing the best education possible. Inclusivity is taken very seriously here, with the head teacher always going above and beyond to ensure that students are taken care of.
These students have ASD as their main diagnosis, along with a variety of other learning difficulties such as OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, verbal difficulties, and language processing disorders.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, your main duties will include helping students cope with their school work and encouraging a safe and fun environment for learning. You will support students on every step of their academic journey.
While your main priority is to be there for the students, you will also support the class teacher. Duties will range from helping to set up lessons, tidying up afterwards, decorating the classroom with relevant topics, and providing general supervision of the children.
You will have the advantage of shadowing the class teacher and being exposed to various methods and techniques to support these children effectively.
The successful Mental Health Teaching Assistant will have a positive attitude and a passion for making a difference. You will be resilient, confident, and able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of each child. Experience working with children, especially those with ASD, is beneficial.
