Are you interested in supporting children with Mental Health issues? Would you like to build your experience working with Complex Needs and work alongside trained therapists, counsellors, and psychologists?

An outstanding specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs based in Iffley in the heart of Oxford is looking for a bright and enthusiastic Graduate to work as a SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with behaviour and mental health issues. Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology would be great for this, but candidates with relevant experience will also be considered! The SEN School is in Iffley, Oxford, has great transport links, and the role is full-time starting ASAP. The SEN children are aged 4 to 11 and all have significant developmental trauma, emotional needs, and behavioural challenges, so your role will be supporting each individual’s well-being and personal development.

This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for the successful mental health assistant to work alongside the therapists and psychologists based on-site at school. You will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions and learn from them. Plus, you will gain invaluable experience working with Special Needs and Mental Health issues. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring educational or occupational psychologist, therapeutic support worker, or SEN teacher.

The SEMH School is looking for a Mental Health Assistant/Teaching Assistant who can bring enthusiasm, passion, and experience to the classroom. They are looking for a SEN TA who will be proactive and adaptable and be able to use their own initiative. Resilience and confidence to work with challenging behaviour is desirable!

Key Responsibilities:

  1. SEN Teaching Assistant
  2. Mental Health Assistant
  3. Social and Emotional Mental Health Support

Additional Information:

  1. ASAP Start
  2. Iffley, Oxford
  3. £80-£95 per day
  4. Full-time Mon-Fri 8.30am to 4pm

The SEN children in this school require a teaching assistant who understands their complex needs and is open-minded and up for a challenge. The children have varying needs although SEMH is the main provision. Suitable experience can include working with SEN children and/or adults in any setting, even on a personal level such as with family. Level 3 qualifications+ are also required and a Degree would be most desirable.
