Job description

Meetings & Events Manager Scotland - Maternity cover - 1 year contract

We are looking for a Meetings & Events Manager Scotland (Maternity Leave - 12-month contract) to lead and manage the Events teams across Scotland to its fullest potential ensuring both current and future needs of the business are met. This role is offered on a Hybrid basis and regular travel is required. Reporting into the Director of Sales Scotland, you will work with the General Managers, Revenue and RDOS to continuously align and devise strategies and activities to retain and grow the business and maximize revenue in the MICE segments.

Duties And Remit Include:
  • Ensure team are meeting and exceeding client expectations through high quality sales service, qualification of client needs and professionally presenting solutions for all events enquiries.
  • Maintain booking integrity in Delphi and hotel PMS with the team in alignment with company standards.
  • Manage the hotels meetings & events diary, ensuring function space is optimised.
  • Produce accurate weekly forecast for all hotels.
  • Ensure team are proactively driving site visits and hotel showrounds to deliver enquiry conversion.
  • Negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines.
  • Create and implement effective planning in line with commercial strategies.
  • Manage negotiations and contracting through Delphi, Lanyon, Cvent.
  • Play an active part in leading and supporting the team to convert key opportunities.
  • Review demand calendar and pricing and establish actions to fill the gaps in need periods.
  • Review Medallia feedback scores to ensure achievement of team KPIs and to maximise on future booking opportunity across the Marine & Lawn brand.
  • Ensure effective processes are in place for the recruitment, induction, training and development of the events teams.
What Are We Looking For?
  • Hotel events management experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work across all key stakeholders effectively.
  • Delphi/salesforce knowledge is required.
  • Experience of delivering strategies and working with targets.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and ability to negotiate.
  • Strong organisational skills, effective decision making skills and problem solving skills.
  • Financial management skills and commercial knowledge delivering budgeted figures.
  • Ability to support, develop and implement successful sales strategies.
