Job Description Summary:
The Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs accurate, precise, and timely patient test results for the diagnosis and management of human illness. Utilizes automation, computerization, and manual methods. Responsible for quality control and instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Position handles blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid and other bodily fluids. Specimens may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other blood borne pathogens.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences (Required). MLT - Medical Laboratory Technologist Certification - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required. Two years of field of study in applied science or medical laboratory technology including MLT in a laboratory or formal military experience followed by successful completion of the Board of Registry examination of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent certifying organization.
