Job description

We are currently looking to appoint 2 Band 4 medical secretaries to join the cardiothoracic team in Morriston Hospital.

The post holders will work closely alongside a multidisciplinary team, including consultant cardiothoracic surgeons, Junior Doctors, clinical nurse specialists, the OPD team and the Patient Pathway Team to deliver a comprehensive support service for patients requiring cardiac surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will support Consultant Cardiothoracic surgeons along with the Junior Doctors / Nursing staff and Management. The main duties consist of typing (clinics, procedure notes, reports and miscellaneous letters), maintaining accurate RTT and FUNB reporting and ensuring patients are booked in for appointments and treatment in a timely manner.

The post holders will be motivated and enthusiastic and require a proactive approach. This role requires effective organisational skills, initiative and excellent time management with the ability to self-organise.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities

The post holders are expected to deal with all secretarial duties related to the service. These will include dealing with telephone calls, waiting list management, typing clinic letters, booking clinic appointments / clinic outcomes and pulling medical notes.
