Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient audio, copy typing, and word processing service as well as other GP practice clerical duties for the practice manager and clinical team.
To liaise with external agencies, e.g., hospitals, community services, coroners, ensuring that all referrals are processed efficiently.

Woodside Medical Practice is based in the heart of Woodside, Telford, and provides healthcare services to a patient list of approximately 6,400 patients. You will be joining a supportive team of 2 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 1 Nurse, and a support team consisting of medical administrators and reception staff.
Job responsibilities
- To provide an efficient audio, copy typing, and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc., in an accurate, timely, and quality manner.
- Ensure that all referrals are recorded accurately on the patients' medical record.
- Ensure that all referral templates are up to date on the clinical system.
- To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
- To retrieve medical records and assist in the completion of medical/insurance reports.
- Retrieve and re-file patient records/documents as required.
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- To assist the practice manager and clinical team leaders with all clerical and administrative duties.
- To apply a high degree of confidentiality to all of their work.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths.
- Experience in using Emis Web/Docman/ERS/Gateway.
Experience
- Excellent Audio Typing Skills.
- Good knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to deal with enquiries in a professional manner.
- Understanding the need for confidentiality in the workplace.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent IT, Word Processing, and clerical skills.
- A willingness to learn and work in a flexible manner.
- Ability to work in a busy General Practice and cope with a variety of demands from patients and clinical staff.
- Previous secretarial experience in a GP setting is desirable.
