The Medical Illustration Photography Service is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join their team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. The candidate should have a degree in Photography or equivalent knowledge and experience of digital photography. They will contribute towards the provision of a high-quality service to the Trust. A considerable amount of work is undertaken in the studio but also in our wards, clinics, and operating theatres.
The successful candidate must be a team player but also able to use their own initiative and work on their own when required. Ophthalmic photography experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as ongoing training in this area of the department will be provided. We provide a photography service over three Hospital sites in the Sandwell and West Birmingham area as well as a variety of local Community GP practices, so having your own transport would be preferable as the role will involve cross-site and community working.
The successful applicant will be required to be registered with AHCS (Academy for Health Care Sciences). If registration is yet to be achieved, the band for this post will be band 5 (ANNEX U).
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated care organization with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000 staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban centre that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.
Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first-class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH from 2024 (or beyond). If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continue your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
We have three newly emerging strategic objectives:
To assist in the provision of a full clinical photographic service to Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust sites and other associated locations for the purpose of diagnosis, case records, education, research, and publication.
To assist in providing a general non-clinical support service for patient information, research, publication, education, and public relations.
