Medical Malpractice Underwriting Manager
London
£100,000 - £120,000

A well-established and rapidly expanding London Market business is seeking a Senior Underwriter to spearhead their Medical Malpractice offering. Their underwriting divisions focus on Mid/SME commercial business within five key units. With ambitious short- and long-term growth plans, they are looking to expand to help achieve these objectives. This individual will be leading the Medical Malpractice business to play a vital role in this success. They operate a hybrid work model, combining remote work with three days per week in their City of London office. This role will report in the CEO and offers a platform for innovation, collaboration, and career-defining success. If you're ready to take on a leadership role and make a lasting impact, this role could be the ideal opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of the Medical Malpractice P&L to ensure delivery of the key metrics i.e. revenue targets, loss ratios and profit margins
  • Leadership of the team (once built out) to ensure you develop a high performing and motivated team
  • Day to day underwriting of new business and renewals with a focus on the more complex risk
  • Acting as a technical referral point for the more junior underwriters in the team
  • Building strong and collaborative relationships with the capacity providers
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key broker partners to ensure there is strong business development

Skills and Experience

  • Solid experience in a senior underwriting or broking role in the Medical Malpractice market
  • Experience in leadership/ mentoring ideally sought
  • Strong business development skills, preferably with some strong existing relationships with UK&I Brokers
