Relevant mechanical qualification or industry experience required.
Hands-on, mechanically minded, and technically curious.

Conduct mechanical testing and inspections on products.
Produce reports on Excel and ensure compliance with guidelines.
Calibrate machinery and prepare machines for delivery.

Location: Long Eaton

Salary: £32,760
Hours: 8am – 4.30pm (1pm finish on a Friday)
Company Pension: 6.51%
Paid Overtime: 1.5%

The Company:

Our client is a niche and specialist design and manufacturing business specialising within the teaching and research industries. They provide in-house design, testing, and manufacture of bespoke machines for educational facilities worldwide, including materials testing equipment, aerodynamics, power testing, alternative energy, and various force testing equipment.

The Role:

The Mechanical Test Engineer will work in tandem with the Assembly team to provide end-of-line testing on products to ensure they are fit and ready for delivery to client sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

All mechanical testing
Leak checking and inspection of welded tanks
Dimensional checks
Compression testing
Following company guidelines and test processes
Producing reports on Excel by plotting graphs
Printing off test specifications
Setting up/building/assembling machines
Calibrating machinery
Checking results are within acceptable tolerances
Stripping machines down for delivery to end client sites

Tests can take up to 3 days, and the successful Mechanical Test Engineer may juggle up to 5 tests at any one time.

The Person:

To be successful in this role, you will:

Have a relevant mechanical qualification OR relevant industry experience
Have previous experience within a Test Engineer position
Be hands-on, mechanically minded, and technically curious
Possess strong problem-solving skills
Be able to work as part of a team and meet strict deadlines
