Job Title: Mechanical Systems Engineer
Salary: £47,615 + per annum dependent upon experience
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The Mechanical Systems team have a vacancy for a Mechanical Systems Engineer who will be supporting all aspects of mechanical system performance, reliability & durability - for both NPI (New Product Introduction) programs & current production engines.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a diverse team that play a vital role in the future of the products that we are developing. The team are fully immersed from the start of a new program; setting requirements and technical objectives, right through to planning and delivering validation activities on engine & machine. The role will involve working with our UK and global partners along with our customer groups to deliver fully validated robust powertrain solutions. We have a lot of exciting projects in flight meaning the demand on our Systems Engineering team is high. To be successful, we must focus on and deliver standard work – requirements setting, early risk identification & robust mitigation, technical issue management to name some key areas. The role is within our Peterborough Engineering & Technology centre where you will work alongside a range of system and validation specialists, with support and collaboration from Engineers across facilities in US, China, India, and Japan. Opportunities for growth and further responsibility will be available for the successful candidate in role.
