Job description

Mechanical Supervisor

Location: Central London
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum + benefits
Hours: Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm + overtime + on call

About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join our Facilities Maintenance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a diverse portfolio of commercial and public sector buildings.

As the Mechanical Supervisor, you will oversee a team of engineers and subcontractors, ensuring that all works are completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with industry regulations and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and support mechanical engineers in the delivery of maintenance, repairs, and minor installations.
  2. Carry out hands-on mechanical work when required, particularly during critical or complex tasks.
  3. Conduct site audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations and company standards.
  4. Assist in the planning and scheduling of works, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption.
  5. Liaise with clients, site managers, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and expectations.
  6. Maintain accurate records, including job sheets, risk assessments, and asset registers.
  7. Provide technical support and training to team members when needed.
  8. Participate in call-out rota and emergency response as required.

Requirements

  1. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  2. Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within facilities maintenance.
  3. Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
  4. Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  5. Full UK driving licence.
  6. Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  7. Ability to use CAFM systems and Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable

  1. IOSH or SMSTS qualification.
  2. Experience working in healthcare, education, or public sector environments.
  3. Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and risk assessment procedures.
