Field Service Engineer

Derbyshire

£40,000 + Car Allowance (OTE £45k)

The Company

Our client designs, manufactures and installs bespoke mechanical process equipment and systems for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. The company has a trading history dating back over 200 years and has been on an amazing journey, growing from 100 to 250 staff in the past ten years.

As part of the business growth plans, they are currently looking to expand their service team by recruiting a further two Field Service Engineers. The role will mainly consist of carrying out inspections of installed products at customer sites, followed by PPMs and any follow-up work from inspections.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing service team in a field service role that will require minimal reactive or breakdown work.

The Role

The Field Service Engineer role will initially consist mainly of carrying out inspections of products and systems the company has installed with their customer base. These inspections will consist of:

  1. Checking Gearbox Oil Levels
  2. Checking alignments on gearboxes
  3. Checking bolt tightness
  4. Checking gaskets
  5. Checking critical welds on lifting mechanisms
  6. Checking bearings/shafts for wear
  7. Checking mechanical seals for leaks or wear
  8. Checking limit switches

You will then be required to put together reports from these inspections which recommend any follow-up servicing and repair work required.

You will also be responsible for carrying out PPMs on equipment under service contracts with customers.

The work will be spread throughout the UK, with most of the inspection and service work carried out over one to two-day visits to customer sites.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Field Service Engineer role you will need:

  1. Mechanical fitting skills
  2. A keen eye for detail
  3. Some fabrication skills for repair work required
  4. The ability to fault find and repair on mechanical systems
  5. Basic electrical fault finding exposure
  6. To be happy to travel and work throughout the UK
  7. To be commercially minded to spot new opportunities with customers during site visits

The Benefits

For this Field Service Engineer role you will receive:

  1. Circa £40,000
  2. A company vehicle or car allowance
  3. 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays to be taken flexibly
  4. Company Contributory Pension Scheme
  5. A field service role with interesting work and minimal reactive breakdown work
