Mechanical Quality Inspector

The opportunity

Our client is currently hiring for an experienced Mechanical Quality Inspector for a long term engagement at Hinkley Point C (HPC) to become responsible for preparing and reviewing Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and other QA documentation.

Contract - This role has been deemed inside IR35
12 months
Rate: We estimate the rate to be in the region of £55.00 to £65.00 per hour depending on experience

Your duties and responsibilities will be

1. Provide expert quality support for ongoing projects and maintenance works
2. Assess supplier and vendor QA documentation, including ITPs and Quality Plans
3. Collaborate with Welding and Project Engineers on technical submissions and QA compliance
4. Offer guidance on welding, NDT, material certification, and quality standards
5. Coordinate QA/QC across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines
6. Work closely with third-party inspectors to manage inspection processes
7. Maintain quality documentation within the company's management system
8. Monitor quality performance through KPIs and identify areas for improvement
9. Participate in internal and external audits
10. Support and contribute to a strong HSE culture within the workshop

You will have the following qualifications and experience

1. Strong engineering background with proven QA/QC expertise
2. Skilled in creating and reviewing project QA documents and supplier submissions
3. Experienced with fabrication, welding, pipework, and NDT practices
4. Competent in radiographic interpretation and isometric drawings
5. Familiar with performance monitoring, KPIs, and continuous improvement practices
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office and QA-related software
7. Excellent communication and reporting skills

Required Certifications

1. CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
2. PCN Level 2 - Radiographic Interpretation
3. Internal Auditor qualification
4. Recognised Engineering Qualification (e.g., ONC / BTEC / C&G or equivalent)
5. CCNSG Safety Passport (Mandatory)

It's great if you also have the following

1. HNC in Mechanical Engineering
2. Membership in the Chartered Quality Institute
