About the Company:
Our client is a well-established HVAC and building services engineering contractor based in Middleton, Greater Manchester. Specialising in air conditioning and ventilation solutions, they serve a diverse clientele, including end users, service providers, and contractors. With a reputation for delivering high-quality projects and a significant portion of their work stemming from repeat business, they are seeking a dedicated Pre-Contract Mechanical Project Manager to join their dynamic team.

The Role:
As a Mechanical Preconstruction Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the early stages of project development. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the mechanical scope from initial client engagement through to contract award and project mobilisation. Collaborating closely with design, estimating, and commercial teams, you will ensure that client requirements are effectively translated into deliverable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the mechanical aspects of bids and pre-construction activities, coordinating with design and estimating departments.
2. Evaluate client tender documents, specifications, and drawings to develop value-engineered solutions.
3. Manage technical submissions, pre-start programmes, and pre-contract deliverables and act as the primary mechanical contact during bid negotiations and client meetings.
4. Assist with procurement strategy, supplier engagement, and preliminary pricing exercises.
5. Prepare detailed scope documentation for handover to project delivery teams.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in mechanical project management within the building services or MEP contracting sector.
2. Strong understanding of pre-construction processes, design coordination, and estimating principles.
3. Comfortable engaging with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners at pre-contract stages.
4. Technically adept with HVAC systems, plant selection, and compliance requirements.
5. Ability to lead front-end project activities independently and collaboratively.
6. Engineering qualification (mechanical or building services) preferred.
