Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Rotherham
Salary: £48,300
Hours: 3 on/3 off Shift Pattern

We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and improving production equipment to the highest standards for one of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair high-volume production machinery.
2. Carry out mechanical installations, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
3. Fabricate and work with sheet metal, welding, and brazing.
4. Work on pneumatic systems using schematic drawings.
5. Use precision tools such as micrometers, Verniers, and small hand tools.
6. Interpret and work from detailed machine drawings.

Electrical Responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and repair high-volume CNC and PLC-controlled production machinery.
2. Conduct fault finding on various machines, including plastic injection moulding machines, CNC grinders, assembly machines, heat treatment furnaces, and robotic lines.
3. Perform electrical installations and preventive maintenance of plant and equipment.
4. Undertake portable appliance testing and fixed wiring inspections (18th Edition and 2394/2395/2396 qualifications are advantageous).
5. Interpret and work from detailed electrical machine drawings.

What We're Looking For

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Apprenticeship-trained mechanical fitter (HNC qualification is an advantage).
2. 5+ years of on-the-job experience.
3. Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5. Strong communication and organizational skills.
6. Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Working Conditions:

1. PPE to be worn at all times.
2. Adherence to factory Health & Safety regulations.
3. Physical requirements include standing for long periods and lifting equipment.
