Job Description

  • Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Dayshift
  • Location: Goole, Doncaster area easy M62 access and A1 proximity
  • NO NIGHTS: do you want to come off shifts and work day patterns?
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours rotating
  • Pay Range: £46K plus overtime, OTE £50K+
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Industry: Global Manufacturer

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Maintenance Fitter
  • Provide effective and efficient planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance to minimise losses to production.
  • Ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault finding and maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Work with conveyor systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and general mechanical fitting.
  • Conduct fault-finding to basic welding.
  • Lead electrical and instrumentation repair, and work with a CMMS.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and eliminate root causes of mechanical engineering faults.
  • Implement minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance.
  • Complete all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive, and improvement maintenance as assigned.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls.
Qualifications & Requirements – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.
  • Manufacturing industry experience, heavy, medium, or FMCG environments considered.
  • Knowledge of conveyor belts, drives, gearboxes, couplings, and general mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is essential.
  • Experience with routine preventative maintenance and an understanding of a PPM schedule.
  • Ability to find and fix faults quickly and effectively.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous.
  • Fitting, fabricating, and welding experience.
  • A proactive approach to fault finding, a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.
