Mechanical Fitter
Knaresborough
Salary: 34,000 + 5 % bonus + benefits

Alecto Recruitment is working with their client looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join their Renewable Energy Plant on a full-time basis in Knaresborough.

This role has 2 shift patterns which are:

  1. Week 1 - 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday
  2. Week 2 - 10pm - 6am Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Maintenance: Rectify problems on mechanical assets such as conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and cranes, ensuring minimal downtime and operational efficiency.
  • Fabrication & Workshop Duties: Carry out fabrication work and general workshop duties, including operating workshop machinery for fabrication and refurbishment tasks.
  • Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Be responsible for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance work, maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Outage Participation: Assist with and actively participate in planned outages, ensuring efficient and effective execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Communication: Promptly communicate problems and concerns through line management to ensure quick and effective resolution.
  • KPI Achievement: Assist in delivering Maintenance Team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), contributing to the team's success.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures. Work safely and efficiently according to site safety rules, under a safe system of work.
  • Incident Reporting: Report any accidents, incidents, and near misses in a timely manner to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Time Served
  • Mechanical Technical Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 NVQ3/ BTEC
  • Maintenance Engineering
  • CSE/GCSE equivalent
  • IOSH Managing safely - desirable

Required Skills and Experience:

Proven knowledge and hands-on experience working with various mechanical systems, including:

  • Conveyor belts
  • Valves
  • Gearboxes
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Fabrication work

Technical Proficiency:

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents to guide maintenance and repair work.
  • Experience in writing detailed Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure safety and compliance during maintenance operations.
