Location: Dinorwig, Wales (Accommodation Allowance provided if required)
Pay Rate: Base £22.20
Hours: Guaranteed 50 hours per week, 5 days
Overtime: £28.86 (T1.3x) paid after 38hrs per week
Duration: 11 Months

Summary of Project

This project focuses on the maintenance, assembly, and installation of critical components for MIV (Main Inlet Valve), turbines, and generators. As Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for essential mechanical duties and operate overhead cranes to safely manage complex lifts, playing a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and safety on site.

Person Specification

You are a self-motivated and skilled mechanical fitter with experience in using and maintaining a range of tools and equipment, such as hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. Alongside proficiency in materials, disassembly, and assembly, you bring a valid overhead crane license, enabling you to perform complex lifts safely and efficiently. You have the CPCS A62 (Crane Supervisor) and CPCS A64 (Crane Operator) certifications, qualifying you to handle challenging lifting tasks with accuracy. Knowledgeable in UK safety standards, you work with care and attention to detail, ensuring the safety of both team and equipment.

Job Duties

  • Conduct maintenance, disassembly, and assembly of MIV, turbine, and generator components.
  • Operate overhead cranes for complex lifts, following CPCS A62 and A64 guidelines for crane supervision and operation.
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment, including hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels.
  • Identify and repair mechanical failures to restore equipment functionality.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing and assembly drawings for installations and repairs.
  • Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and surface protection as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with UK safety regulations and project-specific health and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • NVQ3 in manufacturing engineering / installation or equivalent.
  • Valid overhead crane license for complex lifts: CPCS A62 (Crane Supervisor) and CPCS A64 (Crane Operator).
  • Proven experience with overhead crane operation and supervision in an industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of mechanical tools and devices.
  • Familiarity with materials and auxiliary materials used in machine maintenance.
  • Experience in reading technical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, with basic skills in machine installation and electrical components.
  • Understanding of UK safety regulations and health and safety measures.
  • Suitable health and safety training, e.g., CSCS or similar, is required for all staff.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within a team.
