Mechanical Fitter

Our client, a leading manufacturing client based north of York, are looking to recruit a Mechanical Technician to join the business on a permanent basis. This recruitment drive is due to order books continually expanding and needing additional staff to manage the workload.

The successful candidate will be required to assemble and test mechanical components used in sub-assemblies and final builds.

Candidates will ideally be mechanically trained with demonstrable experience in reading engineering drawings, working with hydraulic systems, and working to tight tolerances.

Candidates with a light vehicle, HGV, rail, or agricultural maintenance background would be well suited to this.

Hours:

Mon - Thurs (Apply online only) / Friday 08:30 - 16:00

OT is also available all week paid at premium rates.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mechanical assembly of sub-assembly and final build components
2. Load testing of equipment as required
3. Testing of hydraulic hoses, pipes, and components as assigned
4. Interface with planning department, engineering, and quality control to ensure completion of projects
5. Complete all necessary documentation according to the requirements, including timesheets, NCRs, ECNs, etc.
6. Carry out workshop maintenance as assigned
7. Carry job tasks safely using good working practices
8. Ensure risk assessments are carried out prior to the start of work and during

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ideally candidates will be time-served in a mechanical discipline
• A good understanding of hydraulic systems
• Technical competence in mechanical assembly, using basic hand/power tools and test equipment
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and sketches
