About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanical Fitter to join our team on a freelance basis within the water industry. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment in water treatment plants and associated infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong technical skills and experience in industrial mechanical fitting, looking to take on freelance work.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation of mechanical and pipe work systems within water treatment facilities.
2. Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
3. Carrying out preventive and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, valves, and motors.
4. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
5. Working independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and project goals.
6. Managing own work schedule to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Skills & Experience Required:

1. Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably in the water industry or similar sectors such as utilities or manufacturing.
2. CSCS Card.
3. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pumps, valves, and other equipment used in water treatment.
4. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
5. Competent in using hand tools and machinery required for mechanical fitting.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Full understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the water industry.
9. Relevant qualifications and certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

Additional Information:
The role involves working across various locations, so flexibility is key. You will be required to provide your own tools and PPE. Competitive rates offered, with potential for long-term freelance contracts for the right candidate.
