Job description

Carbon60 are currently looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join a client of ours based in Norwich. This position is a temp to perm position.

Working Hours/Shift Pattern: 39 hours/ week, 8am - 16:30, Monday - Thursday, 8am - 15:30 Friday, 30 min lunch

Type of Employment: 12 weeks temporary to permanent.

Pay/Salary: Dependant on experience

Band 2 £31050/ annum, £15.31/hour
Band 3 £34184/annum, £16.86/hour
Band 4 £36984/annum, £18.24/hour

Main duties & responsibilities:

1. You will carry out Repairs to all types of industrial equipment including AC and DC motors, Motorised Gearboxes, Gearbox's, Pumps, Fan units, Generators and other associated rotating equipment.
2. Size of component can vary significantly from one job to the next - could be a fractional horse powered fan unit, then next one could be a 5-ton DC mill motor or large vertical pump.
3. You will have the ability to fault find and identify and rectify defects and worn / damaged components.
4. Advantageous to have basic electrical testing capability to assess electrical condition of AC & DC components - will be taking examination to verify and won't be working alone.
5. Have sound mechanical engineering knowledge to identify and rectify faulty and worn / damaged components.
6. You will be flexible and be prepared to work the hours required in a demanding and busy 24 / 7 service orientated environment.
7. Participate in call out rota as required.
8. Site working experience and CCNSG passport is advantageous, use company vehicle to travel to different sites - 3rd party will provide.

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

1. Active clean UK driving license essential.
2. Engineering background, NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC City and Guilds or equivalent Time served also applicable highly preferable.
3. Need to have practical skillset as well as academic understanding of mechanical aspects.
4. Able to meet physical demands of the role.
5. Understanding of repairing rotating equipment with or without direct prior experience.
6. Manual machining/lathing experience advantageous.
7. Understanding engineering technical drawings.
