Job description

We're excited to offer an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Manager working for a specialized chemical manufacturing company. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled Engineering team within a lower tier COMAH facility. The successful candidate will be an experienced, qualified Mechanical Engineer/Manager.


The ideal candidate will have the following capability/experience:

  1. Overall responsibility for the management of the Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering departments which includes 25 staff, and contractors as and when required.
  2. Mechanical maintenance department management.
  3. Mechanical project engineering management experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  4. Fluent in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
  5. Excellent personnel management skills.
  6. Excellent computer skills.
  7. Safety, Health & Environmental - To maintain and promote a safe operating culture within the department ensuring that in all its aspects of installation and maintenance it operates to the highest levels of safety and meets all legal and statutory requirements, company rules and procedures.
  8. Liaison at all levels inside the company. Outside contacts typically include suppliers, contractors and agencies such as the HSE & insurance inspectors.

Qualifications/Training:

  1. A Mechanical Engineering HNC as a minimum, ideally a Mech Eng degree.
  2. A minimum of 10 years' experience within an industrial manufacturing environment in a Mechanical Engineering role, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.

The job requires a flexible attitude to deal with multiple complex jobs simultaneously to meet the required changes in operational priorities. Career development will be possible with both internal and external training available.


Salary: £55k-£60k but open to discussion.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm - 40-hours
