Job Description:

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for tank design to join a fast-paced nuclear project. You'll be part of a team solving complex engineering challenges that directly impact the UK’s energy landscape. If pressure vessels, seismic loads, and precision design get you excited — this one's for you.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Designing and optimising industrial tanks (pressure, surge, accumulator, and storage).
  • Performing stress and pressure calculations, ensuring structural integrity.
  • Solving real-world challenges like hydrostatic pressure, wind, and seismic forces.
  • Delivering designs from concept through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Using advanced software tools for 3D modelling, stress analysis, and compliance checking.

Who are we looking for?

  • Tank Design Expertise (3–5 years preferred):
Experience designing a range of tanks — storage tanks, accumulator tanks, surge tanks, and pressure vessels — used in sectors like energy, oil & gas, water treatment, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Software Skills:
Proficient in Bentley AutoPIPE Vessel, PV Elite, or COMPRESS for design; FEA tools like ANSYS or Abaqus; and CAD tools like AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks for 2D/3D modelling.
  • Industry Standards:
Solid understanding of ASME BPVC (Section VIII), API 650/620/653, EN 14015, and EN 13445 — from design to inspection.

You are...

  • Passionate about engineering
  • Result-oriented
  • Proactive

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Pressure Vessel Design, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in identifying design challenges and proposing innovative solutions, ensuring the integrity and safety of tank structures.
