Mechanical Engineer

SUEZ UK
United Kingdom
GBP 50,000 - 56,000
Job description

Exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer / Technical Plant Engineer to join the Energy Recovery revolution here at Suez. We're on a mission to make the world a cleaner place, one facility at a time. And we need your expertise to help us achieve our goals!

Are you currently working in the Power Generation, Chemical Production or similar Engineering Manufacturing sectors? Are you a qualified Biochemical/Chemical or Process Engineer, Chartered or keen to work towards this?

With innovation and new technology, we can create a greener future. But we can’t do it alone which is why we need your help. Be part of a team that’s building new solutions for our planet.

In return, we offer a salary range of GBP50,000 through to GBP55,939 plus Car/Allowance (GBP8k to GBP8475), plus up to 10% Bonus, Private Health Care, 5% Pension, staff discounts scheme, and other corporate benefits. We will support your ongoing/personal development if that's something you're interested in!

Please note that this role is often field-based, with visits to sites across the UK. You must be flexible for this, as no two weeks are the same. Sometimes you can be away 2 - 3 nights, or another time you may be away the whole week or have no site visits at all. Therefore, any previous field engineering background is a bonus.

What will you be doing?

As a Mechanical Engineer - Energy Recovery & Processing, you'll be part of a vital team, ensuring our sites operate at maximum efficiency. From processing resources into reusable materials to generating energy from landfill, you’ll provide critical mechanical technical support across our plants. This includes enhancing operational efficiency, supporting a variety of innovative waste-to-resource processes, and ensuring we meet and exceed industry standards. Your responsibilities will span mechanical engineering repairs, outage plans/fixes, project engineering with some project management, hands-on commissioning, and breakdown support.

As this role does require field-based work across the UK, the Mechanical Engineer position allows for the option of being based at any of our energy recovery facilities across the UK.

Internally, this role is called Technical Plant Engineer EfW.

What will you need, what can you gain?

To make the cut, you must have a background in mechanical engineering with a related industry qualification & experience in a related sector, such as process, power, or heavy engineering industries, and a solid understanding of environmental legislation and management systems. We're looking for someone who can keep things running smoothly, help us identify areas for improvement, and enjoys working within a very friendly team.
