Mechanical Engineer

The working hours for the role are Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.

There is a 1 in 5 call-out rota - £100 per week + minimum 4 hours overtime per call-out.

There is plenty of overtime available and progression for the right candidate.

Role Purpose:

A leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to join the team located in Elstree/Borehamwood.

To carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works to client Heating & Air-Conditioning Systems in accordance with agreed service levels.

Primary Objectives and Tasks:

1. Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all Heating & Air-conditioning plant to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements.
2. Ensure that Evaporative Cooling Systems and Domestic water systems are maintained to comply with the requirements of the L8 standard.
3. Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
4. To carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive works to other site plant as required.
5. Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance of the above plant.
6. Ensure that comprehensive maintenance records are kept in the form of “Frontline” task sheets.
7. Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices.
8. To develop a good working relationship with all members of staff and clients' staff.
9. Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, as well as client site policies, procedures and working arrangements, as required.
10. Ensure a professional image is presented to clients and visitors, and ensure excellence in customer service is delivered and promoted at all times.
11. Ensure that professional and technical skills are maintained through a commitment to personal development and life-long learning.

Accountabilities:

1. Accountable to Contract Supervisor and Account Manager.
2. The post holder does not have any directly reporting staff.
3. This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility.

Core Competencies:

Education:

A good basic education is essential, with good written and spoken English and basic Mathematics skills.

Training:

1. Formally trained in mechanical services maintenance (C&G or BTEC certs).
2. Basic skills on building management systems would be an advantage.
3. Formal health and safety training (Desirable).

Experience:

1. Experience of maintaining Pumps, Motors and Valves.
2. Experience of operating Cooling Towers.
3. Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities.
4. Working on a client resident site (Desirable).
5. Formally certified for Maintenance and Operation of Evaporative Cooling Systems (Desirable).

1. Good verbal communication skills.
2. Good written English skills.

Circumstances:

Able to attend the site location within one hour of notification to participate in out-of-hours rostered stand-by and call-out procedure.
