Experience:
- Either time served or experienced in mechanical/electrical installation of rotating equipment.
- Carrying out various hand fitting techniques.
- Ability to work from heights in accordance with relevant H&S legislation.
- Experience on working with new and serviceable items.
- Both Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
- Experience of working in an engineering manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of Rotating Electrical Machines.
Skills:
- Good hand fitting skills/techniques
- Use of overhead lifting equipment
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings

Qualifications & Education:
- NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering.
Job Summary:
Due to the expansion of the current business, they are seeking to recruit a mechanical/electrical fitter. This is a multi-disciplined role, covering both the mechanical and electrical install of AC and DC rotating equipment. This will include the assembly and sub-assemblies of rotors and stators into enclosures, installation and alignment of bearing arrangements, completion of assembly in preparation for painting, motor/generator alignment in readiness for test. In addition, you will be required to carry out electrical installation/termination of various instrumentation into terminal/auxiliary boxes all in accordance with relevant industry standards. As a mechanical/electrical fitter you will be required to handle large components with the use of overhead lifting equipment. The role may entail both on-site and off-site/overseas working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the mechanical and electrical functions of assembling both HV & LV rotating equipment including; enclosure assembly, bearing arrangement and alignment, preparation and bending of external pipework, installation and termination of electrical instrumentation.
- Prepare and support with the installation of rotating equipment ready for testing.
- Prioritise and work to given timescales.
- Preparation of large components in readiness for final assembly.
- Operation of capital equipment and general hand/power tools.
- Ability to carry out strip-downs of rotating equipment for service - repair and/or replace.
- Use of testing equipment.
