Job Description

The Job Mission
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of nuclear power plant operating equipment, specifically valves and fluid handling equipment. This role involves working closely with external suppliers and ensuring successful integration of equipment into the plant.

Your future team will rely on you for:

  1. Creating and amending technical specifications for new equipment scopes.
  2. Performing surveillance and approval of contractor deliverables and design activities.
  3. Supporting technical and project meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  4. Assisting in resolving multi–disciplinary technical issues, including addressing interface queries and design changes.
  5. Coordinating technical specialists for reviewing deliverables and resolving technical concerns.
  6. Reviewing and providing input on contract amendments and exemptions.
  7. Liaising with RD and client teams to ensure proper equipment integration.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  1. Strong understanding of mechanical interfaces (piping, fluids, radioprotection, safety).
  2. Good knowledge of valves and fluid handling systems.
  3. Capable of producing high–quality technical specifications.
  4. Sound understanding of mechanical engineering regulations in safety–critical environments.
  5. Experience in managing equipment supply contracts.
  6. Previous experience working on large–scale industrial projects.
  7. Familiarity with UK nuclear industry standards would be a bonus.
  8. Experience with supplier qualification and surveillance activities.
  9. Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
