Mechanical Design Engineer / Development Engineer - Chassis & Body Design Specialist

  • Salary: Late £30Ks to Late £40Ks (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Use 2D & 3D CAD software to design chassis and body components.
  • Re-engineer designs to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Partner with production managers, suppliers, and customers to bring projects to completion.
  • Apply your knowledge of stress analysis (FEA), fatigue stress, and trailer legislation to create innovative designs.
  • Mentor apprentice engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Candidate Essentials

To succeed, you'll need:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or a similar field).
  • 2+ years' experience in chassis design, body design, or related mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software, with a solid understanding of stress and load calculations.
  • Hands-on experience with production methods like welding (preferred).
  • A flexible, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to seeing projects through to completion.
